In an article that first appeared on Expat Living’s Autumn 2021 issue, Jaerey Velasco explored the interesting issue of whether it is lawful to spy on one’s spouse, and obtain confidential and private information without authority, in the context of family law.
Jaerey noted that in cases involving financial disputes, it is common for some spouses to secretly obtain information about their partner. Discussing the UK landmark case, Imerman v Tcheguiz [2010] 2 FLR 814 and Imerman v Imerman [2010] EWCA Civ 908, Jaerey raised its application in Hong Kong Courts.
